Missy White was sworn in as the Mayor of Lander during the regular council meeting on March 11, 2025. She was elected by the majority of city councilmembers on February 25, 2025, in accordance with Title 12-5-1 and WS 15-1-107. Missy White will complete the late Mayor Monte Richardson’s term and serve as Mayor until December 31, 2026. The City of Lander welcomes Missy White to her role as Mayor.
“I’m honored to continue serving the Lander community by carrying forward Mayor Richardson’s vision. We have major improvements planned for streets, water, and sewer infrastructure, as well as for the Popo Agie River Park. Many of these projects are shovel-ready, so it’s an exciting time to be Mayor. I’m eager to hear from everyone and work together as we honor Mayor Richardson’s legacy,” shared Mayor Missy White. Missy has served as a city councilmember for Ward 2 since 2018.
A process in accordance with Title 12-5-2 will now begin to fill the Ward 2 councilmember seat vacated by Missy White upon her resignation. Applications are available at City Hall or online at landerwyoming.org and are due by April 1, 2025, at 4:00 PM. Candidates for municipal office must be a registered voter, and a resident of the municipality and the ward they seek to represent (W.S. 22-23-301), and will have resided in said ward for at least one (1) year (W.S. 22-23-103(b)).
Applicants will be interviewed by council members for the position on April 15, 2025, during a City Council work session. The council will vote to appoint an applicant to the ward 2 vacancy by majority vote during a special regular City Council meeting on April 22, 2025.
